Meet the Team.
A team of dedicated teachers who live and breathe street dance. Our teachers all have professional experience alongside years of teaching, meaning every class delivers the same high-quality training.
Who we are.
Hayley
Hayley is the founder and principal of Funky Vibes Dance School, which she established in 2010.
Her love of dance began at just 8 years old, starting with ballroom, Latin and disco dancing. She went on to compete at both national and international level, before later moving into cheerleading and commercial performance work.
Hayley also danced for a promotions company and spent several years performing with the group Xerox, working across England, Ireland and Spain as part of a comedy tribute show.
As her dance career developed, Hayley later found a real passion for street dance, which eventually became the main focus of her teaching and led to the creation of Funky Vibes.
Today, Funky Vibes has grown to over 160 students, with Hayley also teaching dance clubs in local primary schools and introducing even more children to dance each week.
Hayley loves helping dancers grow in confidence, develop their own style and enjoy being part of a supportive dance community.
For Hayley, Funky Vibes has always been about more than just dance, it is about creating opportunities, friendships and memories that dancers will carry with them for years to come.
Lauren
Lauren is an experienced hip hop dancer and teacher with over 13 years of teaching experience and a lifelong connection to hip hop culture.
She has trained and performed with Myself UK and Unity UK, was a member of breaking crew Grounded UK, and has performed at and assisted classes at Move It. Lauren also holds a degree in Dance and has successfully auditioned to dance with Boy Blue.
Dance has always been a huge part of Lauren’s life. Growing up with a dad who was a b-boy and a grandad involved in animation and popping, she was surrounded by hip hop culture from an early age.
Her favourite style is hip hop, although she also loves incorporating contemporary fusion into her movement and freestyle. Lauren’s classes focus on much more than learning choreography, she encourages dancers to develop their musicality, individuality, confidence and understanding of hip hop culture.
Lauren currently teaches our Saturday Senior dancers and our competition team, Fusion at Funky Vibes.
Fifteen years, one mission.
What began as a single class in Hornchurch has grown into four studios, a competition squad, and over 500 kids taught — from weekly choreography to national competition pieces, showcases, and commercial work.
Hayley Murray has been at the heart of it from day one. She built Funky Vibes on a simple idea: kids should get serious technique and a genuine love of dance, not one or the other. Our teachers all have professional experience alongside years of teaching, meaning every class delivers the same high-quality training.
